From a young age, Matthew knew he wanted to be a pastor. The eldest four siblings, he grew up in Saline, Michigan where his father serves as a Pastor. His grandfather on his mother's side also served a long career as a pastor in parts of Michigan and Wisconsin, and also working with Synod World Missions.
Matthew went to high-school at Michigan Lutheran Seminary, one of the Wisconsin Synod's preparatory schools. Following his graduation in 2000, he went on to Martin Luther College (MLC) in New Ulm, Minnesota, and then to Wisconsin Lutheran Seminary (WLS) in Mequon, Wisconsin.
Pastor Natsis' first call was to a triple parish (3 churches) in South-Central Minnesota: St. Matthew’s in Butterfield, St. John’s in Darfur, and St. Paul’s in St. James. In 2013, St. Matthew’s in Butterfield chose to close its doors, and its peoples were blessed to be able to join the other two congregations in Darfur and St. James.
In January 2016, Pastor Natsis accepted a new call to serve as pastor of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Livermore, California. Having spent nearly all his life in the Midwest, the move was daunting, but also exciting!
He looks forward to continuing the work of preaching the good news of Jesus Christ, crucified and risen, to this congregation and community!
Our website also has articles and sermons from other WELS pastors, including our previous pastor, Paul Mueller, or pastors from nearby WELS congregations.
It was he who gave some to be apostles, some to be prophets, some to be evangelists, and some to be pastors and teachers, to prepare God's people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ.
