What We Believe

The Lutheran Rose is the seal designed for Martin Luther in 1530, while Luther was staying at the Coburg Fortress during the Diet of Augsburg. Luther saw it as a compendium or expression of his theology and faith.

Our Doctrine and Fellowship

We are a Confessional Lutheran Church, and a member of the Wisconsin Evangelical Lutheran Synod (WELS), which consists of churches across the United States and Canada who confess the same doctrines. Although WELS is based in North America, we share the same teachings, beliefs, and fellowship as thousands of churches and more than 30 other church bodies around the world.

The teachings of the Lutheran Church are those of the original, ancient church of the apostles and early Christians. The Lutheran church recognizes three ancient creeds as accurate expressions of Bible teaching: the Apostles’ Creed, the Nicene Creed, and the Athanasian Creed.

About Lutheranism

Nearly 500 years ago, the Christian church was corrupted by many false teachings. A scholar and teacher named Martin Luther led people back to the true teachings of the Bible by translating the Bible into the language of the common people. His work, and that of his friends, is called the Reformation. Through Martin Luther, God restored the church to a purity of doctrine and a new life of faith in Christ. Thus, we are “Lutheran” for the sake of this restoration of God’s truth, begun through Martin Luther.

The doctrines of the Lutheran Church are not new because they are literally the teachings of the Bible. The Lutheran Church is therefore not a new church, nor a sect or cult, because it seeks to neither add nor subtract from the scriptures. Rather, than the words of Martin Luther, our church is actually founded on Christ and the words of the Old and New Testaments. The Bible tells us about Jesus Christ, and the free salvation given to us by the grace of God through faith in him.
